About Butlins Memories Back

Butlins Memories was set up back in 2001, by a gentleman named Glen, as somewhere to record and share people's photographs and memories of Butlins.

The website proved popular and Glen spent a busy 3 year period answering people's e-mails and updating the site regularly. Infact, most of the content on the site today was uploaded by Glen during that 3 year period. However, Glen needed some time for himself and thankfully, some help soon appeared in the form of another gentleman named Kevin. Kevin hosted the site via his hosting company, answered the e-mails and has also done a great job with upgrading and keeping the Butlins Memories Forum software upto date. In addition, he added the Butlins Memories Photo Gallery which now contains over 2,500 images uploaded by users.

Now, with over 60,000 posts, the forum is a home to ex-staff and campers, young and old who are not only able to discuss past and present Butlins and share memories but are also able to get to know each other and even organise regular Get Togethers at Butlins.

By the summer of 2007, Kevin too had decided that he could no longer manage to look after the site and this time it was the turn of forum member DiscoKev to take over the running of the site with Kevin's company continuing to provide the hosting and also providing an excellent level of help and support.

Since taking over the site I have been updating the look and feel of the site (see the Ayr pages for an example of what the completed pages are looking like). This is a long process as it involves not only updating the layout of the pages but also re-arranging the pages into a more logical order, often finding unused pages in the process which I am making use of.

Therefore, this is where most of my time spent on the site is being dedicated to so if you have sent in any material then please do not despair, I do intend to make use of it and add more new material to the site eventually. Indeed, one of the most recent additions is a page dedicated to the Bognor Reception Building which is now sadly marked for demolition.

Please do enjoy browsing the pages of the site, hopefully helping to remind you of some happy memories. If you spot any corrections required to the material on the site, have any comments or suggestions or indeed if you have any photos or memories for use on the site then please send us an e-mail. We look forward to hearing from you!
